SAKA, ANTONY AND 10 PREMIER LEAGUE STARS HEADING TO THEIR FIRST WORLD CUP

According to Wales Online, Crystal Palace are interested in signing Schalke 04 wide-man Rabbi Matondo.

Brighton, Bournemouth and Watford are also said to be interested in the 20-year-old, who cost Schalke 04 £9.6 million when they signed him from Manchester City.

Now, given his lack of experience and young age, you may not know much about the Wales international.

However, he is exactly the type of signing Crystal Palace need to be making.

Why? Well, there is a desperate need to freshen up the squad at Selhurst Park.

There are currently only three permanent first-team players in Roy Hodgson’s squad who are under the age of 28 – Eberechi Eze, Tyrick Mitchell and Jairo Riedewald.

Make that four, if you still consider Max Meyer a first-team option.

Additionally, the Eagles need more wingers.

Andros Townsend has played a bit-part role this season, while Wilfried Zaha has typically operated at centre-forward.

In that respect, the youthful Matondo – who is a bright prospect – would tick both of these boxes for the south Londoners.

What type of player is the Welshman?

Well, the Bundesliga’s official website likened him to Bayern Munich star and Germany international Leroy Sane.

They state that the only striking difference is the fact that Sane is left-footed, whereas Matondo is right-footed.

While he might not immediately impact the first-team, Crystal Palace need to have one eye on the future – signing Matondo would be wise, in that respect.
