Crystal Palace fans should be delighted about what Hodgson did in the 83rd minute against Arsenal - Our View

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson made an attacking decision late on in the narrow loss to Arsenal and fans should be delighted with what he did.

It was a very strong performance for Crystal Palace but they sadly didn’t have enough to make the breakthrough on Monday night.

The Eagles should be proud of the performance and our fan base massively backed the team, but Steve Parish will no doubt be looking for more attacking options during the transfer window.

Hodgson is seen as a more defensive manager, but one thing he did late on would perhaps have surprised many people.

What’s the story?

With Crystal Palace still one goal down with under 10 minutes left of normal time, Hodgson decided to turn to his bench.

In the 83rd minute, he decided to take off defender Joel Ward for winger and Palace academy product Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.

The 20 year-old was given his chance and did look bright, but in the end he didn’t manage to get the goal for Palace.

It was still very refreshing to see and Palace fans should be delighted to see Hodgson take off a defender for an attacker against a big team to try and grab the result.

Crystal Palace fans should be delighted with Hodgson’s tactics

When Hodgson was re-appointed towards the end of last season, many were worried that the style of football would not be as entertaining.

Hodgson proved doubters wrong with good results whilst playing top football. Against Arsenal, despite the loss, the club showed that they can battle with the best.

The reason that Palace fans should be delighted with the substitution was due to the fact that it was very refreshing to see.

He has been known to favour more defensive substitutions but to see him take off a defender for an attacker was great.

It was also amazing to see that it was an academy player that he brought on when making this substitution. We have an exciting academy and fans want to see our brightest talents given a chance.

Hopefully we see Rak-Sakyi given more minutes this season if he isn’t loaned out during the summer transfer window.

If Hodgson continues to make more exciting attacking substitutions then it looks like it will be a fun season for fans.
