According to The Athletic, Crystal Palace youngster Killian Phillips is set to move on loan to League One club Wycombe Wanderers this summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old is apparently ‘well thought of at Palace’. He went out on loan last season and made 20 appearances for Shrewsbury after joining in January.
The player was a part of Palace’s squad for their pre-season tour of Australia and Singapore last summer having signed from Irish side Drogheda United.
The academy at Crystal Palace is now one of the best in the country after owner Steve Parish revamped it to make sure that the Eagles have a bright futre.
This loan move is ideal for both Crystal Palace and Phillips
He is a player clearly highly-rated by those who are at the club and those who have previously worked at the club. Former manager Patrick Vieira was one who praised the player.
Vieira told Palace TV: “He (Phillips) is someone who will catch the eye because of his determination on the field. He is a hard-working player.”
The 21 year-old Irishman is not ready for Premier League football yet. Therefore a loan move to a League One side benefits all parties.
The midfielder gets consistent game time in a tough league where he can grow and Palace get to see how good he really is.
It is a huge chance for Phillips to prove himself. He needs to break into the Crystal Palace first-team next summer if he does want a chance of making it in the Premier League.
This makes the upcoming loan move at Wycombe one of the biggest moments of his football career so far. Hopefully he shows why he is rated so highly by Palace.
