"Done deal": Crystal Palace swoop in and "beat" PL rivals to the signing of 20 year-old prospect - Romano

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Crystal Palace have managed to beat a Premier League side to the signing of young defender Chris Francis this transfer window.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano.

So, what’s the latest on Chris Francis’ future? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

The summer transfer window is open and so far Crystal Palace have made one signing; Jefferson Lerma on a free transfer.

Now, Romano provided the latest Palace transfer update and it looks like another signing is close. He said: “Crystal Palace have now reached agreement to sign 2002 born CB Chris Francis from Bournemouth, done deal completed.

“Left CB signs deal until June 2025 and he’s gonna train with first team. Medical completed today, Palace beat Sheffield United on Francis deal.”

The Eagles beating a Premier League rival when it comes to a transfer is always good to see. Francis will no doubt be looking to impress in the first team.

Crystal Palace sign another prospect

It is hard to judge the ability of Chris Francis. He is yet to feature at a professional senior level and will no doubt be hoping to break into first team football soon.

With both the Eagles and fellow Premier League side Sheffield United wanting the 20 year-old, there is clearly belief that he can make it in the Premier League.

The centre-back was released by Bournemouth and on paper this signing does look quite confusing. Despite this, the recruitment over the last few years has been spectacular so there must be a reason for this signing.

With Marc Guehi, Joachim Andersen and Chris Richards all top centre-backs, Francis is not someone who will be rushed into the team. He is more seen as a prospect.

The Eagles clearly see the defender as someone who can come into the starting eleven in the near future. It will be great for him to work with top centre-backs like Guehi and Andersen.

Now that this signing is close, we hope the club start to focus on additions for the starting lineup. Arguably a striker and winger is needed if we want to finish in the top-half of the Premier League.
