Report: PL rivals join Newcastle in the race for 'excellent' Crystal Palace star

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Brentford are interested in Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen as they look to bolster their squad during the transfer window.

That is according to The Athletic.

So what are the details involving Joachim Andersen? Let’s take a look..

What’s the story?

According to The Athletic, Brentford have already asked Crystal Palace about the availability of the Danish international. The report goes on to say that Brentford valued Andersen at £20million.

Apparently, and understandably so, Palace said if he were to leave then it would be for a much more expensive price tag. The report also claims that the Eagles stated that he was not available.

Reports last week claimed that Newcastle are interested in the player. It is no shock to see Premier League London rivals Brentford as well as Newcastle interested in the centre-back after he has performed well over the last two seasons.

The 27 year-old is a fan-favourite at Selhurst Park and arguably one of our best ever centre-backs over the last decade.

Crystal Palace can only afford to sell Andersen for a huge price

Over the last two seasons Andersen has formed an amazing partnership with Marc Guehi. Now, the Eagles can attack from the back due to the passing abilities of Guehi and the Danish international.

Andersen is not just a solid defender but his ability to consistently distribute perfect long-ball passes has been a tactic that helps the Eagles massively.

The ‘excellent‘ defender is a key player for the club. With this in mind, we cannot afford to lose him for a cheap deal like £20million.

It is good that the club have immediately rejected any hint of a bid around that value. The Eagles already have some positions they need to sort out this summer. Should they lose Andersen, they would immediately have to replace him.
