Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi were asked some questions by BBC Sport and they shared what their most favourite game at Selhurst Park is.
They were talking whilst on Football Focus.
So, which game did they pick as their favourite at Selhurst Park? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Speaking on Football Focus, The BBC Sport presenter asked the Crystal Palace pair what is their favourite Selhurst Park moment.
Eze answered first as he said: “JP (Jean-Philippe Mateta) scoring the winner against Leicester.” Guehi replied saying: “I agree with that one. That was an important game last year. Stadium was rocking.”
The game against Leicester City last season was Roy Hodgson’s first game back in charge and it was a huge game to pull the Eagles away from any relegation danger.
In the game, it was 1-1 until the dying seconds. Then Mateta managed to score an excellent goal to win the game and pick up an important three points.
Eze and Guehi on their favourite game at Selhurst Park
It is no shock to see the two players pick this match as their most favourite game at Selhurst Park since joining the club.
It was a pivotal moment for their season and after the match they had top momentum and looked very strong until the end of the 2022/23 season.
The goal scored by Mateta was not just important in the match but it was also a great goal as he produced a great touch to get him past the defence and be one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
The French striker has produced many top moments for the Eagles and has looked on good form lately this season.
Palace have started strongly this season, picking up seven points in their first four games. This sees them sit in the top half and they will want to stay there.
If they want to stay there then home form will be key and they need to get Selhurst rocking so they can build a fortress at their home ground.
