Crystal Palace have just seen a bid rejected for "incredibly talented" 26-year-old Leeds target

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Crystal Palace have seen a bid rejected by Bayern Munich for Alexander Nubel – who is also a target for Leeds United.

That is according to Sport1.

So, what is the situation involving Alexander Nubel and Crystal Palace? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, it is said that Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman have made a bid for the German glovesman, while also offering him a significant pay rise.

However – according to Sport1 – Nubel rejected the chance to join Crystal Palace in favour of moving to VfB Stuttgart on loan.

The German news outlet believe we tried very hard to sign the 26-year-old, and even gave Bayern Munich the choice of an immediate permanent deal, or an initial loan with a purchase option next summer.

As aforesaid, Leeds were also keen to sign Nubel – who has been described as an “incredibly talented” goalkeeper – but did not push as hard as Crystal Palace.

Alexander Nubel move suggests Vicente Guaita really is leaving Crystal Palace

You may be wondering why Parish and Freedman would move for Nubel when we already have Sam Johnstone and Vicente Guaita at Selhurst Park.

Well – by the sounds of it – the latter is leaving south London this summer.

Guaita was strangely left out of our squad for the United States pre-season tour, and some eagle-eyed Crystal Palace fans have even noticed him liking messages on Twitter, wishing him good luck for his next adventure.

If the Spaniard does depart SE25 this summer, that would leave Johnstone as our only senior goalkeeping option after Jack Butland joined Rangers.

It would be a real shame to lose Guaita – an experienced figure – in the same summer that Wilfried Zaha, Luka Milivojevic and James McArthur have also departed.

Hopefully, losing significant characters like the aforementioned quartet does not have a negative impact at Selhurst Park next season, and Freedman can find some talented replacements in the market.
