Crystal Palace now want to sign £35m player, he's won five Premier League titles

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Crystal Palace now want to sign Aymeric Laporte from Manchester City as Pep Guardiola prepares to bring in Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig.

That is according to the Daily Star.

So, what is the situation involving Crystal Palace and Aymeric Laporte? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, this is one of the strangest transfer rumours we’ve ever heard when it comes to Crystal Palace.

Nevertheless, the Daily Star are confidently reporting the story as an exclusive, so let’s analyse the details.

It is said that Manchester City are willing to sell Laporte for £35m this summer as the Citizens close in on an £80m deal for Gvardiol, and that has alerted Crystal Palace.

The Spain international had already fallen behind Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji in the pecking order, even before RB Leipzig’s Croatia international was targeted by Guardiola.

As a result, Crystal Palace are said to be considering a move for Laporte, who has won five Premier League titles since signing for Manchester City in a £57m deal from Athletic Bilbao back in January 2018.

Laporte rumour further suggests Crystal Palace expect to lose a key man

This rumour about Laporte, coupled with strong claims from Italy that Dougie Freedman is targeting another centre-back in Peer Schuurs, suggests those at Selhurst Park are preparing to lose an important central defender.

According to the Guardian, Chelsea are looking at a deal to re-sign Marc Guehi, who has also been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham this summer.

Elsewhere – according to the Daily Mail – Newcastle are interested in Joachim Andersen, as the Magpies prepare to strengthen ahead of their return to the Champions League. Brentford are also keen.

So, with a number of Champions League sides sniffing around our two best central defenders, the continued links to new centre-backs suggests Steve Parish is not entirely confident about keeping Andersen and Guehi together.
