Crystal Palace are trying to sign Marcus Edwards – who Tottenham sold back in 2019 – although he is not the only player Spurs discarded who is on Dougie Freedman’s radar.

The Eagles are set to make an improved bid for the Sporting CP No.10 after seeing an offer worth £12.6m rejected.

In the meantime, Dougie Freedman is looking to bring one of Wilfried Zaha’s Galatasaray teammates to Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace want Davinson Sanchez

A story from Turkiye Gazetesi in Turkey now claims that Crystal Palace are keen to sign Galatasaray No.6 Davinson Sanchez.

The Turkish news outlet believe Galatasaray are willing to accept €15m (£13m) for the Colombia international this summer after signing him from Tottenham for just £8.1m in September 2023.

Turkiye Gazetesi add that Everton and Napoli are also monitoring Sanchez along with Crystal Palace, after he helped Galatasaray win the Super Lig title and also played a key role in Colombia reaching the Copa America final.

The South American – who spent this summer playing alongside Jefferson Lerma and Daniel Munoz – made 34 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring three goals while also providing two assists.

Oliver Glasner does not need the Colombia international

Sanchez enjoyed a fine 2023/24 campaign for Galatasaray and Colombia, although as things stand, he is not needed at Selhurst Park.

Oliver Glasner already has Joachim Andersen, Marc Guehi and Chris Richards to call upon for his three centre-back slots, with new signing Chadi Riad in reserve alongside Rob Holding too.

Therefore, unless Guehi – who is attracting interest from Arsenal – leaves SE25 this summer, a move for Sanchez would make little sense.

Ultimately, Turkish sources are usually a bit unreliable around this time of year, when transfer rumours are flying around on a daily basis, so we would take Turkiye Gazetesi’s story with a pinch of salt anyway.
