Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
Crystal Palace are now keen to bring Willian to Selhurst Park after he decided not to extend his contract at Fulham.
That is according to TEAMtalk.
So, what are the details involving Willian and Crystal Palace? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the Brazil international wanted to sign a two-year contract extension at Craven Cottage.
However – according to TEAMtalk – Fulham only wanted to offer Willian an additional 12 months, given the fact he turns 35 in August.
That has led to the South American becoming a free agent, with Crystal Palace now alerted to his availability.
It is said that Willian and his family are extremely settled in London, where he has amassed 286 Premier League appearances while playing for Chelsea, Arsenal and Fulham.
Therefore, south London has emerged as a potential next destination for the Brazilian, who impressed in the 2022/23 campaign with five goals and six assists in 27 Premier League appearances.
Willian would certainly be worth signing for Crystal Palace
While some may scoff at the prospect of signing a 34-year-old free agent, this deal would make a lot of sense for us.
Michael Olise is looking at three months on the sidelines after tearing his hamstring at the Under-21 European Championships, while Wilfried Zaha is technically no longer our player after his contract expired on Saturday.
Therefore, we could do with some more wingers at Selhurst Park, and Willian represents a decent option who can inject plenty of experience into what is a fairly young side.
The only potential issue is satisfying his desire to sign a two-year contract, which would keep him and his £41,000-a-week on our books for potentially longer than we need him.
Nevertheless, Willian proved he still has plenty of talent last season, so his potential arrival could prove to be a masterstroke on a free transfer – be sure to keep an eye on the situation.
