Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
Newcastle have now made contact with Crystal Palace over a deal to sign Joachim Andersen this summer.
That is according to the Daily Mail.
So, what are the details involving Joachim Andersen? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, much of the focus has been on Marc Guehi this summer when it comes to potential outgoings, with the Daily Mail claiming that Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham are all interested in the England international.
However, there is now interest in our No.6’s partner.
The Daily Mail believe Newcastle have been in touch about a deal for Andersen as Eddie Howe attempts to prepare his squad for Champions League football next season.
It is – however – said that the Magpies could struggle to afford the Denmark international, who cost us £17m in a deal from Lyon.
The Daily Mail do not actually specify what our asking price for Andersen is, but they state that it is large enough to be a potential stumbling block for Newcastle, which speaks volumes given their Saudi Arabian riches.
The Crystal Palace No.16 – who Roy Hodgson called “excellent” last season – made 32 Premier League appearances during the 2022/23 campaign, scoring one goal.
Crystal Palace should sell Newcastle target Andersen rather than Guehi
If it came down to us needing to sell either Guehi or Andersen, we would have to choose the latter.
Guehi is just 22 years of age and has more room for growth, which also means more room for his valuation to soar.
While Andersen is not old – he is only 27 – those additional five years on Guehi mean there is more chance of the Dane decreasing in value, as well as performance level, as time goes on.
To put it simply, Guehi is yet to hit his prime, whereas Andersen has arguably peaked already.
EURO 2024 also provides a window for Guehi to boost his valuation next summer, so it would be foolish to sell now just before he potentially explodes into a household name across Europe.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Newcastle could soon bid for Andersen.
