9/15 points: Crystal Palace could be in an excellent position this Christmas - Our View

SAKA, ANTONY AND 10 PREMIER LEAGUE STARS HEADING TO THEIR FIRST WORLD CUP

If Crystal Palace’s next five Premier League fixtures go as we think they will, then Roy Hodgson’s men could be in a fine position this Christmas.

The south Londoners take on Burnley at Turf Moor, Newcastle at Selhurst Park, West Brom at the Hawthorns, Tottenham in SE25 and West Ham at the London Stadium between now and December 15th.

In our view, we think the Eagles will end this run of fixtures with a respectable nine points from a possible 15.

We feel Hodgson’s men will have too much firepower for a Burnley side yet to win in the Premier League this season, one that has scored just three goals in their seven games.

The same can be said for Palace’s trip to West Brom. Slaven Bilic’s men are yet to win a Premier League game this season, and have conceded a whopping 17 goals in eight outings – the joint-most in the division.

We feel that the last of the Eagles’ nine-point haul will come against a Newcastle side who are simply scared to shoot.

According to WhoScored, Steve Bruce’s men average just eight shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season, the fewest efforts of every team in England’s top-flight.

However, we feel that in-form West Ham might get one over on Palace, with the likes of Said Benrahma, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio doing the business.

Additionally, we also think Tottenham will have too much individual quality for Palace to cope with in the shape of Harry Kane, Heung-min Son, Gareth Bale and more.

However, achieving nine points from this run would represent a fine effort from the south Londoners, and it would leave them on 22 points heading into the festive period.

Considering Hodgson’s men only had 15 points after 13 games last season following a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool, that would represent excellent progress.
