The news of Oliver Glasner heading to Nottingham Forest has alarmed a portion of Crystal Palace fans.
Some on social media are fearful that Daichi Kamada could follow the Austrian to a third club after working under him at Eintracht Frankfurt and Crystal Palace – despite the Japan international already admitting he hopes to stay at Selhurst Park.
In our eyes, the player most likely to join Glasner at Nottingham Forest, if any, is Jean-Philippe Mateta after what happened back in January.
Would Oliver Glasner ruin his Crystal Palace legacy by moving to Nottingham Forest? 🤔
Nottingham Forest have already bid for Jean-Philippe Mateta and adoration for Oliver Glasner could help deal materialise
Nottingham Forest saw a £35m bid rejected for the France international back in January as the Reds tried to find a new striker – according to The Athletic.
It was said that personal terms between Mateta and Nottingham Forest would ‘not be an issue’ – although Crystal Palace rejected the offer and demanded £40m.
Considering Nottingham Forest only ended up signing Lorenzo Lucca on loan from Napoli and are still in need of a new striker, we can now see the deal happening this summer.
Not only do those at the City Ground clearly admire Mateta, but the Frenchman himself has already confessed to being a huge fan of Glasner, so the 51-year-old’s presence in Nottingham could sway him as his representatives try to arrange a move away from Crystal Palace this summer.

Speaking to BBC Sport in May 2024, the former Lyon striker said: “He wants to win. He is a winner. He wants to win everything.
“He doesn’t care about the big teams. Even when we play the big teams, he says we go there to win. Against Liverpool, he said we go there for the win. Even against Manchester City, when we lost, he said, guys, we are here to win. He wants to win every single game – and that is what I like.”
With only 12 months left on his contract at Crystal Palace, another bid close to that £35m mark would surely tempt Steve Parish – who notably opted to sell Marc Guehi to Manchester City for £20m instead of losing the England international on a free transfer.
What would YOU do with Mateta? 🇫🇷
With all of the above taken into account, if any player is to leave Crystal Palace for Nottingham Forest, our money is on Mateta.
