Our View: £2.5m Crystal Palace man will hugely regret 23rd minute incident vs Liverpool

SAKA, ANTONY AND 10 PREMIER LEAGUE STARS HEADING TO THEIR FIRST WORLD CUP

After losing 7-0 to Premier League champions Liverpool at Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace don’t really have too many excuses to make.

However, one incident which occurred in the 23rd minute will leave the Eagles shaking their heads with regret – specifically, Jordan Ayew.

The Ghana international managed to shrug off Fabinho out on the right flank, before surging towards Alisson Becker’s goal.

Not a single Liverpool player was near him, and he either could’ve shot, or laid the ball off to Wilfried Zaha.

In the end, Ayew ceded possession back to Jurgen Klopp’s side after passing the ball behind Zaha, in what was a truly agonising moment.

Had the south Londoners scored, it would’ve been 1-1 at that point, and potentially an entirely different game.

Admittedly, we may sound like we’re clutching at straws here, seeing as it was 7-0 after all.

However, in terms of the context of the game, who knows what the result could’ve been if Ayew – who cost Palace £2.5 million – made a better decision.

That isn’t to say the defeat is entirely down to the former Swansea man – not at all.

All we’re saying is that, had that attacking move resulted in a goal, things might’ve been different in SE25 earlier today.
