Sell £11m player, resurrect long-term interest: Crystal Palace's two-point plan for January - Our View

SAKA, ANTONY AND 10 PREMIER LEAGUE STARS HEADING TO THEIR FIRST WORLD CUP

After some impressive business was done over the summer, Crystal Palace don’t have much to worry about in the January transfer window.

Eberechi Eze was signed to add some creativity to Roy Hodgson’s side, Michy Batshuayi was added to provide cutting edge, and two right-backs in Nathaniel Clyne and Nathan Ferguson give Joel Ward some competition.

However, there are still a couple of things Dougie Freedman could do…

Selling the club captain seems like a crazy decision, but the Serbia international has been out-of-sorts for a while now.

The £11 million signing has started just two Premier League games so far this season, and was handed a straight red card in the second of those against Wolves.

He has slipped behind Jairo Riedewald and James McArthur in Roy Hodgson’s pecking order. While his stock remains quite high, the Eagles should cash in.

Resurrect Ismaila Sarr interest

One player Freedman has had his eye on for a while now is Ismaila Sarr.

The south Londoners tried to sign the Senegal international before he joined Watford in the summer of 2019. After the Hornets were relegated, Palace went back in with a £25 million bid in October, which was swiftly rejected.

Taking him away from Vicarage Road mid-season might be tough. However, if Palace wait until the summer, there’s every chance Sarr could be back in the Premier League with Watford, which would make it even harder to sign him.
