Steve Parish simply has to do one thing at Crystal Palace in January, he ignored it in the summer

Crystal Palace owner Steve Parish needs to make sure he does one thing in the January Transfer window to boost the squad.

He needs to use the loan system.

So, why must Crystal Palace owner Steve Parish use the available loans in January? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Crystal Palace made four signings in the summer transfer window, but sadly only one of these new signings have had a positive effect on the starting lineup.

Jefferson Lerma has been a great signing, and he has definitely improved the midfield. Matheus Franca is a signing for the future, Dean Henderson is injured and Rob Holding has been signed as cover for Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen.

All four summer signings were permanent deals, and the injury crisis the Eagles had in September and early October emphasised the need for more squad depth.

If Palace do not want to spend big in January then a great way to add some depth would be to use the loans Premier League clubs have.

Crystal Palace need to use loans in January transfer window

The January transfer window is always a hard time to sign players. Prices are inflated as it is halfway through the season and plans could backfire.

It was a shock to see the Eagles ignore the loan system in the summer transfer window. The club have had many players join on loan and become fantastic additions. Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were two players had a great season at Palace.

Using the loan system in January would be ideal for Steve Parish. He would not have to overspend but he would also still improve the quality of the squad, albeit temporarily.

It would be great if some attacking loan signings could be made. Jean-Philippe Mateta has not scored in the Premier League this season and Odsonne Edouard needs help.

The Eagles need some stronger options from the bench as it feels like Roy Hodgson relies on the starting lineup too much.

Palace have had some good results and some bad ones, so adding a bit more quality in January via the loan system to help them be a bit more consistent would be a great idea.
