Crystal Palace are now fighting Leeds for the signing of Shea Charles from Southampton.
Sky Sports claim the Premier League duo – along with Fulham – are keen on the Northern Ireland international, although Leeds have been the most active having already seen two bids rejected by Southampton, the latest of which was worth £23m.
Southampton are understood to want £30m for the 22-year-old.
That is a large amount for Crystal Palace to spend on a midfielder considering that area of the squad is not exactly in urgent need of a new face, but the Eagles could use Justin Devenny to bring the £30m asking price down.

Southampton want Justin Devenny and player-plus-cash deal could be on
Alan Nixon claimed earlier this week on Patreon that Southampton are keen to sign Devenny – along with Preston and Leicester.
A price tag of £5m has been mentioned considering the Crystal Palace No.55 has now entered the final 12 months of his contract at Selhurst Park, and could leave for nothing in 2027.

Given the fact Leeds saw a £23m bid rejected for Charles, it feels like we could have a shot at agreeing a fee with Southampton if we put the same offer on the table, and included Devenny as part of the deal.
That way, Southampton would receive a decent fee for the Manchester City academy graduate, and also obtain an immediate replacement.
It remains to be seen what Charles himself prefers to do, but considering we can offer the Southampton No.24 the chance to play UEFA Europa League football next term – which Leeds and Fulham cannot – it may end up being fairly simple to agree personal terms with the former Sheffield Wednesday star.
Has Oliver Glasner ruined his Crystal Palace legacy by moving to Nottingham Forest? 🤔
Crystal Palace initially expressed an interest in signing Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough to bolster the midfield department, but the England U21 international recently sealed a £24m move to Everton.
