SAKA, ANTONY AND 10 PREMIER LEAGUE STARS HEADING TO THEIR FIRST WORLD CUP
Unfortunately, The Athletic have revealed that Jeffrey Schlupp is set to spend three months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
The Crystal Palace maestro has been in superb form of late, netting the opener in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United.
However, Roy Hodgson will need to find someone else to deputise for the Ghanaian for the next few months.
Having said that, the former England manager won’t need to look too hard.
After Schlupp was forced off against the Blades, Ebere Eze stepped forward.
In a matter of minutes, the Eagles No.25 scored a mesmeric solo-goal, dribbling past a number of opponents before slotting home.
While Schlupp will be a huge miss, his absence provides a real chance for Eze to impress Hodgson enough to stay in the XI on a weekly basis.
The 22-year-old has only started ten of the south Londoners’ 17 Premier League games this season.
Hodgson benched Eze for the last two games against Leicester and Sheffield United, and some would say he was unfair to do so.
Nevertheless, his wonderful solo-goal straight after replacing Schlupp was hopefully a moment of foreshadowing ahead of the next three months without the injured dynamo.
In our view, Eze should be the one to start in the ex-Leicester man’s absence, which will hopefully provide him with a substantial amount of time to impress Hodgson.
