Crystal Palace are close to announcing a new Head Scout in Alessandro Brito.

BBC Sport claim that the Brazilian has already left Botafogo and will officially become Head Scout at Selhurst Park ‘once formalities are completed’ regarding his move to England.

Brito made a strong impression in Brazil, finding the likes of Igor Jesus, John Victor and Jair Cunha for Botafogo – all of whom left for Nottingham Forest.

Respected fan page Glorious Botafogo has now spoken to We Are Palace to share some added insight on the new Crystal Palace Head Scout – who will work closely alongside Sporting Director Matt Hobbs.

Crystal Palace’s fixtures are out for the 2026/27 season! Which game are you most excited for? 🤔

Crystal Palace told they are getting a “competent individual” in Alessandro Brito

The Botafogo expert said: “Brito was – and is – a professional with a lot of respect in Brazil. He built winning sides over the course of his career, including Botafogo’s 2024 squad.

“He made some fumbles in the 2025 season, signing some very questionable players that did not pan out (well). It’ll be interesting to see how he recruits at Palace. He is a competent individual.”

It certainly will be interesting when you consider that the aforementioned Hobbs has contacts in Brazilian football.

The Englishman used his knowledge of the South American market to sign Joao Gomes and Andre for Wolves from Flamengo and Fluminense respectively, both of whom became pillars in midfield at Molineux.

If Brito can use his talents to identify players, and Hobbs then uses his contacts to get the deals done, it could make for a promising recruitment partnership between the pair – although it remains to be seen if it ends up being that simple.

Hopefully, the imminent arrival of Brito – who John Textor wanted to stay at Botafogo – can also help Matheus Franca at Crystal Palace.

Pierre Sage does not see Franca as part of his plans for the upcoming season, and the 22-year-old is keen to remain in Brazil, potentially spending another season with Vasco da Gama.

Given how much Brito knows about Brazilian football, he could potentially aid Steve Parish in finding the perfect club for Franca – and finally help the Brazil U20 international fulfil his vast potential.
