Jean-Philippe Mateta is still yet to sign a new contract at Crystal Palace.
The £9m striker’s situation at Selhurst Park has been a leading topic of conversation amongst supporters for a while now, with his current deal expiring in just over 18 months, but talks are proving difficult.
Most recently, Mateta walked out of contract talks as the Frenchman and Crystal Palace failed to find themselves on the same page.
Nevertheless, the 27-year-old put that situation to one side on Sunday against Tottenham, stepping up to score a vital goal which secured a 1-0 win and a first Premier League victory of the season.

During that successful London derby, Jean-Philippe Mateta did something which suggests contract talks with Crystal Palace could well be back on track.
Jean-Philippe Mateta drops hint over Crystal Palace contract situation
Hilariously – and quite childishly, in truth – Mateta stopped kicking the corner flag to celebrate goals due to his contract dispute at Selhurst Park.
That was according to the South London Press.
However, fans will have noticed Mateta running over to kick the corner flag after his goal against Spurs in the 31st minute on Sunday – notably for the first time in a while – which suggests discussions over a new contract may well be nearing a successful resolution for all parties.

Should the Crystal Palace No.14 decide against signing a new deal, Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman would have to consider a sale in 2025, or else they risk losing the Olympic Games silver medalist on a free in 2026.
Oliver Glasner must find a way to incorporate Eddie Nketiah
The £30m signing of Eddie Nketiah now seems very strange, given the fact he has struggled to perform when deployed out wide, but also cannot seem to play with Mateta centrally, as far as Oliver Glasner is concerned.
We feel Parish and Freedman moved to sign the England international in expectation of having to sell Mateta in 2025, but if a new contract is agreed, it would be interesting to see what happens with the summer arrival from Arsenal.
A £30m arrival cannot be left to rot on the bench, so it is now up to Glasner to find a way to play both Nketiah and Mateta, especially if the Frenchman does decide to extend his stay in SE25 after all.
