Crystal Palace may have been defeated by Bournemouth on Wednesday, but despite the result, Michael Olise was immense.

Roy Hodgson is in trouble after the latest devastating result suffered by Crystal Palace. Wednesday saw a 2-0 loss to Bournemouth who have now drawn level on points with Palace.

The loss was a blow to Palace who now face a tough run of games over Christmas including games against Liverpool, Manchester City, Brighton and Chelsea.

So the Bournemouth game represented a vital chance to grab points, but Roy Hodgson’s side couldn’t quite manage it.

This was despite the best efforts of one man who was top class in defeat, Michael Olise.

Michael Olise impresses against Bournemouth

Olise was undoubtedly Palace’s standout player on what was a poor night for Hodgson and his Palace side.

Starting on the right side, Olise was immense as he scored a SofaScore rating of 7.7 out of 10. However, this rating didn’t quite do him justice.

Olise played the entire game and managed to make 80 touches of the football with which he completed 40 passes out of 48 attempts (83%).

With his time on the ball, Olise made a whopping five key passes and created one big chance with Jordan Ayew and Odsonne Edouard letting him down with poor finishing, which only strengthens the argument for a new striker to be signed.

He was also a threat dribbling down the right as he completed five dribbles in six attempts, he was such a threat that Bournemouth had to foul him, drawing four free-kicks.

Off the ball, he was also solid for Palace with 11 duels won and two tackles won.

Olise deserves better

The loss to Bournemouth will likely have Olise regretting his decision to remain at Selhurst Park as it was genuinely awful.

Olise was the only attacker who could hold his head high after a woeful night and had a game which was deserving of some assists and some points.

The standout player deserves better right now and if he doesn’t get it, we are seriously concerned that he will decide to seek pastures new, as he is too talented for this right now.
