Not many would have anticipated how much Palace would have rocked the hosts, who were unable to score from the 21 shots they fired in the direction of Dean Henderson’s goal.
It was Eberechi Eze who claimed the match-winner in the first half, on a day that saw a host of Palace players earn high praise for their displays, with one moment in the second half being one of the best.

During the second half, Sky Sports commentator Jamie Carragher was left stunned by an exemplary piece of defending from Nathaniel Clyne, who prevented a certain goal from Diogo Jota.
Speaking on the former Liverpool defender’s block, Carragher said:

Coming into the starting XI to make only his eighth start of the season, Clyne was a significant part of Palace’s strength at the back on a day when they were greatly tested by Liverpool.

It was a day for Palace to be proud of, in what has been a disappointing season, the display at Anfield was undoubtedly one of the best showings of the 2023/24 campaign.
