Crystal Palace were victorious in Lublin as goals from Daniel Munoz and Eddie Nketiah sealed a 2-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv.

Oliver Glasner watched his side get off to the perfect start in the UEFA Conference League, despite a red card for Borna Sosa in the 76th minute putting a slight blot on the copybook.

However, the stadium announcer within the Lublin Arena felt moved to warn Crystal Palace fans for a certain chant in the 39th minute which could land the Eagles in hot water with UEFA.

Crystal Palace fans told to tone down protests against UEFA

Shortly before the interval, an announcement was made on the tannoy after Crystal Palace supporters could be heard singing against UEFA – a chant that has already landed an £8,693 fine having been heard earlier this season too.

Bobby Manzi – a reliable Crystal Palace correspondent – claimed on X (previously known as Twitter): “Stadium PA has just suggested Crystal Palace tone down their chanting after their notorious ____ UEFA chant. Palace fans ignore and continue. #CPFC”

In regard to that aforementioned fine, UEFA found the Eagles to have been in breach of article 16(2)(e) of their Disciplinary Regulations, which punishes “words, objects or any other means to transmit a provocative message that is not fit for a sports event, particularly provocative messages that are of a political, ideological, religious or offensive nature” during any fixtures in their competitions.

“Bringing the governing body into disrepute” – article 11(2)(d) – was also deemed to have been breached.

For repeat offences, UEFA could partially close Selhurst Park, or even make Crystal Palace – who wore a different sponsor in Poland – play fixtures behind closed doors entirely should increased fines fail to have the desired effect.

Borna Sosa can still face Everton on Sunday

Despite receiving two yellow cards against the Ukrainian giants, Sosa is still eligible to play against Everton on Sunday despite his newfound UEFA suspension.

The Croatia international only has to serve his ban in a UEFA competition, and it does not carry into domestic football.
