We looked brave and confident on the ball, while we also hit the post twice inside the first five minutes.
Odsonne Edouard also should’ve had at least one goal after a fine cross from Joel Ward, but fluffed his lines with only Alisson to beat.
Despite the many positives, Patrick Vieira was still left frustrated with Andy Madley at full-time for his woeful officiating.

In truth, Madley deserves criticism. James Milner committed five fouls earlier today, and managed to escape without a card (WhoScored).
We also maybe should’ve had a penalty, after Kostas Tsimikas tripped Christian Benteke inside the area.
Nevertheless, it’s great to have a manager who gets fired up at injustices which impact his side, rather than a passive figure like Roy Hodgson was.
Not once do we recall seeing the 74-year-old go over to let a referee know when he made some bad decisions.
In fact, you might remember Hodgson standing on the sidelines with a big smile on his face, after we were truly embarrassed by Liverpool last season in a 7-0 defeat.

If anything, these two pictures just go to show how different the pair are in their approach to management.
We’re sure he did care deep down, although Hodgson didn’t really look like he was that bothered about the result, and was just happy to be managing in the Premier League at his age.
In Vieira, we have a fighter, who will quite rightly stand up for his side when he feels they’ve been let down by the officials.
It’s extremely refreshing to see, and long may it continue.
