Crystal Palace and Everton once again played out a dull 90 minutes on Wednesday night, only this time the Toffees came out on top.

Two weeks ago, we watched Everton and Crystal Palace struggle against each other playing out a 0-0 draw which left fans desperate for the game to end.

Now in the replay with both sides expected to be eager to progress, it was much the same story for Roy Hodgson and Sean Dyche who cancelled each other out.

Ultimately it was the end of a short FA Cup run for Palace, with one moment of quality from Andre Gomes deciding the game as he slammed a free-kick home from range.

But the result hasn’t bothered many but rather a decision Hodgson made in the 64th minute which left fans fuming at the 76-year-old.

What Crystal Palace fans chanted at Roy Hodgson in the 64th minute

After a tough watch through the first hour, Hodgson decided the 64th minute was the perfect time to make a change, and who did he take off? Only Palace’s best player on the pitch.

Eberechi Eze was withdrawn despite little creative spark coming from elsewhere, and this was a move that Palace fans inside Goodison Park were not pleased with.

The decision was met by a chant of “you don’t know what you’re doing” aimed at Hodgson as he once more made a decision which left much to be desired.

It was a bizarre decision, given Palace doesn’t have much else to fight for this season, a cup run would’ve possibly given Hodgson something to be remembered by positively.

With such scrutiny around Hodgson and with so many in the fanbase keen for him to be sacked, he’s just making his own problems now.

Hodgson doesn’t help himself once more with Eze substitution

Hodgson once more has made his own problems with the fanbase, as countless times it’s his decisions which are leading to uproar.

This was something Henry Winter took to X about as he tweeted that fans were rightfully annoyed and that he doubted Eze was injured.

“Palace fans [are] understandably unimpressed with Eze being subbed after 64 minutes and trailing 1-0. Certainly didn’t look injured.” It’s getting to the point where it’s difficult to imagine Hodgson seeing this season out.
