Exciting Crystal Palace academy star Jesse Derry has recently been pictured training with the senior squad during the international break.

He has been on top form this season.

So, what’s the latest on Crystal Palace academy prospect Jesse Derry?

What’s the story?

Derry, who is only 16 years-old, currently plays for the Palace U18s and he has been impressing a lot this season.

With the international break now upon us, there are a fair few players away on international duty. It looks like Roy Hodgson has used this period to get a closer look at some of the academy stars in first-team training.

Derry posted an image of himself in first-team training with veteran defender Nathaniel Clyne, who came through the Palace academy himself. The image above shows Derry holding the ball ready for his next training drill and he posted this on his Instagram story.

The forward, who is the son of Palace cult hero Shaun Derry, hopefully impressed during first-team training and with another week until the players on international players are back, there is no doubt that he will be given more opportunities to join first-team training.

The 16 year-old forward has managed seven goals and four assists in just eight games and he has been crucial for the U18s.

This great form saw Derry called up to the England U17s in November. He managed to score in all three England games.

Derry definitely looks like a top finisher and if he can continue to be as consistent as he is currently then Palace have a top star on their hands.

Right now, the attacker definitely looks like a wonderkid with a very bright future and Palace fans will find it exciting to watch his career over the next few years.

For him to even be in a first-team training session at such a young age highlights the potential that staff at the club believe he has.

The Eagles have some great talent in the academy and it would be amazing to see them break into the first-team over the next few years.
