19 year-old Crystal Palace prospect has had potential loan move away blocked by Roy Hodgson

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

The latest news suggests that Crystal Palace academy star Jack Wells-Morrison has been attracting interest from the English Football League but the club are currently not allowing him to depart.

That’s according to TEAMtalk.

So, what’s the latest on the future of Wells-Morrison? Let’s find out…

What’s the story?

According to TEAMtalk, Crystal Palace are quite worried about the amount of depth they have in the first team at Selhurst Park.

Apparently, Championship and League One clubs are interested in signing Jack Wells-Morrison on loan this summer transfer window.

With the academy prospect young, an experience like this would be perfect for him. Despite this, Palace have currently shunned any possibility of this happening.

They have done this due to the fact that Roy Hodgson is ‘putting his foot down’ and has made it clear not to allow any departures due to the lack of depth at the club. Apparently, all deals ‘have been put on hold’.

Crystal Palace currently blocking Jack Wells-Morrison

It is exciting seeing Crystal Palace academy prospects attracting interest from EFL clubs. Despite this, the fact that their possible growth is being blocked due to the first-team having no squad depth is very frustrating.

We need these young players to get consistent first-team experiences like they have been offered in the lower divisions so that they can grow and match their potential.

The Eagles have only made one signing this summer but have lost multiple players during the summer. They need to add more squad depth.

Not only does blocking loan moves for young prospects hurt their growth, but it emphasises the lack of quality in the first-team. Hopefully this changes soon.

Wells-Morrison was nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award last campaign. The 19 year-old clearly has bags of potential and it will be exciting to see how far his career goes.

Hopefully we manage to make some signings sooner rather than later so that our young exciting players can get some good experience out on loan. It looks like the only condition Roy Hodgson will allow Wells-Morrison to leave on loan is if the Eagles sign some more players this transfer window.
