37 year-old manager linked to Crystal Palace signs new deal elsewhere

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Crystal Palace had been linked with manager Kieran McKenna but this candidate will no longer be an option after he signed a new long-term deal at Ipswich.

The new deal was confirmed by newly-promoted Ipswich earlier today. It was reported that McKenna was someone the hierarchy at Crystal Palace admired and have been considering in their search for a new manager.

What’s the story?

The statement said that McKenna has been rewarded with a new long-term contract after he managed to help secure promotion to the Championship.

Now, McKenna is tied down at Ipswich until 2027. The 2022/23 season with Ipswich was the first full season in management McKenna had done in his career so far. He racked up an impressive 98 points for Ipswich.

They also scored 101 goals and it is clear to see why the club wanted to keep the 37 year-old. It is their first time back in the Championship since 2019.

Crystal Palace’s managerial hunt continues

Despite the Eagles sacking Patrick Vieira in March, they still search for a new permanent manager. They hired Roy Hodgson as an interim manager for the rest of the 2022/23 campaign after sacking Vieira.

Some Palace fans may have thought that due to this a new manager would have been announced a lot sooner. McKenna would have been an exciting promising option, but it is no shock to see him commit to his future at Ipswich.

With pre-season starting on July 1st and the Eagles the only Premier League club without a manager, fans will understandably be a bit worried.

Despite this, we know that Steve Parish will want a new manager in by then. Hopefully the news of a new manager starts to be reported over the next week so that the Eagles can prepare for next season.
