With Roy Hodgson’s future at Selhurst Park up in the air right now, links to replacements are only accelerating for Crystal Palace.
For Crystal Palace, managerial options are believed to be slim right now as nobody is really keen on taking over until the summer.
Along with this, the Palace board are struggling to agree upon their top choice to succeed Roy Hodgson.
One man who has been linked and sounds keen on the role – although he remains an unlikely option – is Slavia Prague’s boss Jindrich Trpisovsky.
The Czech manager has discussed recent reports in the Czech Republic which are linking him with a move, here’s everything he said.
Jindrich Trpisovsky opens up after Crystal Palace links
Speaking with DNES’s Prague Edition 7/2/2024, Trpisovsky opened up on the pride he felt being linked with the Palace job.
“Although Crystal Palace will certainly not consider anyone from the Czech Republic, it is a great honour for me and for all of Slavia,” he said.
“It turns out that we work well when my name appears next to [Arne] Slot from Feyenoord or the American [Jesse] Marsch who managed Leipzig and Leeds.”
Continuing, Trpisovsky then revealed that he and his side have previously trained at Palace – although we aren’t sure whether that’s Selhurst Park or Copers Cope.
“When we played Chelsea in the quarterfinals of the Europa League five years ago, we happened to be training at Crystal Palace. I like these traditional old-school clubs from London. But employment there is a utopia.”
This sentiment is a refreshing change from the recent reports that have seen Palace struggle to attract a coach, so it could be welcome news to Steve Parish and co.
Who is Crystal Palace linked manager Jindrich Trpisovsky?
Trpisovsky is a 47-year-old Czech manager at Slavia Prague in the Fortuna League. He’s led Slavia to be Czech Champions three times and won the Czech Cup four times.
This season, he looks in a strong position to lead his side to further glory as they look impressive in both domestic and European football.
His side is second in the league just five points behind Sparta Prague although hold a game in hand on their city rivals.
Meanwhile, in Europe, Trpisovsky led his side to top their group – a group which included Jose Mourinho’s Roma.
He’s a very experienced and knowledgable coach and as an underdog option, he could be a smart move from Palace.
