After Strand Larsen, Palace now in talks to sign two more Wolves players

Crystal Palace may be known as the Eagles, but they are acting like vultures after Wolves were relegated from the Premier League.

With Matt Hobbs in charge of recruitment at Selhurst Park after leaving Molineux last June, connections were used to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen in February as Wolves began to prepare for life in the Championship.

Now relegation has been confirmed for the Old Gold, Crystal Palace are trying to take two more players from Molineux in Joao Gomes and Santiago Bueno.

The BBC are reporting that Crystal Palace have held talks to sign Gomes – who Atletico Madrid also want – from Wolves in a bid to freshen up the midfield department this summer.

Adam Wharton could leave, while it remains to be seen if Daichi Kamada and Jefferson Lerma stay at Selhurst Park – the pair see their contracts expire at the end of the season.

Not only is Gomes a target, but Sport Witness believe Crystal Palace have also opened talks to sign Bueno from Wolves.

The Uruguay international is aiming to leave Molineux this summer and remain involved in the Premier League, and is said to have the choice of signing for Crystal Palace, Leeds, Brentford or West Ham – if the latter stay up ahead of Tottenham.

The 27-year-old has made 25 Premier League appearances in the centre of defence for Wolves this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

Some Crystal Palace fans might be sceptical about signing Bueno considering Wolves have conceded 62 goals in 34 Premier League games this term.

However, the South American captained Uruguay back in October under Marcelo Bielsa, so he clearly has some pedigree outside of Wolves.

Sport Witness do not state how much Wolves would demand for Bueno – who is under contract until July 2028 – but hopefully, we do not spend heavily on the Uruguayan considering we already have Chris Richards, Maxence Lacroix, Jaydee Canvot and Chadi Riad to call upon.
