Audio heard in the background of an Instagram video posted by Wilfried Zaha’s wife now suggests he regrets his move to Galatasaray.
The Ivory Coast international – widely regarded as the best Crystal Palace player of all time – decided to join the Turkish giants on a free transfer back in July, after his contract at Selhurst Park expired.
It has not been plain sailing for the 31-year-old in Turkey, making more appearances off the bench in the Super Lig (14) than starts (13).
Now, audio has emerged which suggests Wilfried Zaha regrets leaving Crystal Palace for Galatasaray…
What Wilfried Zaha could be heard saying
The Galatasaray No.14’s partner – Paige Zaha – posted a video on Instagram of the pair watching his best goals for Crystal Palace together.
After 20 seconds into the video, the winger can be heard saying “when I used to play football” in a slightly disgruntled tone.
If Zaha really is regretting his move to Galatasaray, there won’t be a Crystal Palace fan around who doesn’t feel sad about that.
While the Selhurst Park faithful were upset to see the Ivorian depart, he went with our best wishes, and everybody reacted with pride after he netted his first UEFA Champions League goal back in October – it was like a family member had scored.
Even Yannick Bolasie sent his pal a message of congratulations.
For whatever reason, Okan Buruk just hasn’t taken to Zaha – the Turk has even left our record Premier League goalscorer (68) on the bench twice in Galatasaray’s last three Super Lig outings.
Bring him back to Crystal Palace
It might not make much sense financially, or in terms of squad planning with Zaha turning 32 this year, but Steve Parish should at least enquire about bringing the man from Abidjan back to SE25.

There is likely to be a departure in attack amid doubts over Odsonne Edouard’s future at Selhurst Park.
Furthermore, the inverted wide role under Oliver Glasner seems ideal for Zaha nowadays, as he is now more of a finisher than the rapid winger who lit up Selhurst Park for all those years.
Whatever happens, we just hope the Crystal Palace legend is in a good frame of mind.
