Crystal Palace have just been hit with a massive injury blow ahead of Thursday’s FA Cup tie with Everton.
Crystal Palace have been on a horrid run of form of late and prior to a 3-1 win over Brentford they hadn’t won in nine games.
The win was a great way to end the year, with Michael Olise the catalyst behind the win.
The mercurial talent that is Olise was on fire, scoring twice in the win which likely saved Roy Hodgson‘s job.
However, the Palace boss is in some ways culpable for what has just happened with Olise now confirmed as injured.

Michael Olise injured for an ‘unspecified’ period of time
Reported on Wednesday, the star Palace man will now be absent for a period of time which is unspecified.
The Athletic’s Matt Woosnam reported that Olise’s injury is in his hamstring and was picked up late on in the win over Brentford. Hodgson has admitted he isn’t aware of just how long the winger will miss but absolutely will be absent for the FA Cup tie against Everton.
After the news broke, Palace fans are absolutely fuming with Hodgson and credit the injury to him overplaying Olise. This as the Frenchman played for seven successive 90 minutes right off the back of a torn hamstring injury earlier in the season.
In December Hodgson was quoted by The Standard as admitting that he had to be careful with Olise – before immediately contradicting himself.
“After almost four months out and an enormous spike in his workload in the last two games, the sports science people are telling me to be very, very careful with him.
“That’s difficult because he’s a very good player and you don’t want to be careful with your best players.”
Palace fans react as Olise is ruled out with an injury
After the news broke, fans took to X to slam Hodgson for overusing Olise which has ultimately seen him once more injured.
One fan reacted by tweeting: “Hilarious because Roy Hodgson got warned about managing Olise’s minutes post his long-term injury and now this has happened.”
Another fan wrote: “Get Hodgson out of our club. Dinosaur beliefs to disregard minutes advice and training methods from the medical team.”
While another asked the question everyone is wondering: “Why doesn’t anyone ask him why Olise wasn’t subbed before this happened? Bearing in mind it was 3 days after 90 minutes at Chelsea and shortly after medical staff warned him to be careful with Olise after his recent return from injury?”
A fourth issued a damning verdict: “Well done Roy – 3-1 up and he stays on for the full 90. He’s killing half the side – it’s beyond pathetic – no wonder the medical team are also leaving.”
