Crystal Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure has been injured for most of 2023/24, he’s now in a race to return before 2023/24 ends.
This season has been a nightmare for Crystal Palace in terms of injuries with Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze consistently injured.
Marc Guehi is another who’s suffered pretty consistently with injuries while Cheick Doucoure is the third who’s suffered substantially.
Doucoure has been injured since November’s 2-1 defeat against Luton when he snapped his Achilles which required immediate surgery.

After months of hearing barely a peep about the potential return of Doucoure from injury, finally we have an update.
It comes according to Dom Smith from the Standard who has reported that the Malian midfielder has been undergoing regular rehab work at Copers Cope for more than three weeks as he steps up recovery from his snapped Achilles.
He is said to be on a bespoke fitness programme as he looks to build up his fitness.
The report then states that the 24-year-old could potentially be set for a return in mid-May if all remains on track.
Doucoure’s return could come at the perfect time
Returning in mid-May when the season is practically over could be the best time to return from such a serious injury.
This is because it could offer him the chance to play some cameo minutes in games lacking intensity which is typical for the end of the season.
After this, Doucoure would have a longer period on the sidelines during the summer to rest and build his fitness further ahead of a full pre-season.
This could be how Doucoure ends up starting the 2024/25 season back at his best.
