Crystal Palace have now done something that no other Premier League side has in history

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Crystal Palace have now done something that no other Premier League side ever has throughout history.

The news was announced by Business of Fashion.

So, what have Crystal Palace done? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Eagles have now become the first ever Premier League side to hire a Creative Director.

In a vastly different role to Sporting Director – which Dougie Freedman operates in as he tries to bring new signings to Selhurst Park – the Creative Director will be responsible for overseeing partnerships with brands, as well as the club’s clothing.

Kenny Annan-Jonathan, who is described as a sports marketing veteran by Business of Fashion, has been hired as our first, and the Premier League’s first, Creative Director.

The Founder of The Mailroom – who has previously worked with Wilfried Zaha, Nike and Adidas – told Business of Fashion that his first job at Crystal Palace will be to launch a clothing range for autumn and winter, ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

Annan-Jonathan also told Business of Fashion that he plans to go beyond typical merchandise released by football clubs, and wants to grow Crystal Palace’s fanbase even more.

Kenny Annan-Jonathan appointment is an exciting move by Crystal Palace

While this is not exactly the big-money signing everyone wants during a transfer window, it is a smart move by Steve Parish.

With all due respect, some of the clothing in our official club shop has been nothing short of amateurish in recent times – just take a look at the shirt below, modelled by Michael Olise, and also the price.

That can’t have taken long to come up with – in truth, that’s probably one of the better items in the club shop, to be brutally honest.

Hopefully, Annan-Jonathan’s artistic nature can help launch Crystal Palace into a more fashionable era, as we attempt to break into the Premier League’s top ten on the pitch.
