Crystal Palace are having a fairly miserable time right now, with results and performances poor, and a few key players picking up injuries.
Roy Hodgson may find himself under more pressure if results do not improve, and with Eberechi Eze and Cheick Doucoure now sidelined through injury ahead of a tough run of fixtures, things are looking bleak for the 76-year-old.
Hodgson is expected to leave Palace at the end of the season, but if Palace find themselves in danger of relegation, they could make an early dismissal, and a candidate within the Premier League has now emerged as a potential target.
Crystal Palace are interested in Steve Cooper
It has now emerged that Crystal Palace have a strong interest in Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper, who is reportedly under pressure at his club following some disappointing results.
Cooper helped Forest return to the top-flight for the first time in over 20 years, and kept them up last season, so there would be some shock if he is dismissed.
TalkSPORT pundit Alex Crook has now revealed that Cooper is admired by Crystal Palace.
“Understand Steve Cooper of strong interest to Crystal Palace should he leave Nottingham Forest,” he posted on X.
“Cooper under fresh pressure after poor recent run. Palace owner Steve Parish a long-time admirer.”
Cooper would be a good option for Crystal Palace
Cooper has shown that he can successfully implement his ideas on a team with great success, taking Forest to promotion from the Championship when they were previously in relegation danger.
However, he would have to be well-backed if he is to take the Palace job. Forest have spent heavily since coming up to the Premier League, and it seems unlikely that he would be too keen on then having to work on pennies.
Should he become available, the 43-year-old would be an excellent option to try and implement a long-term strategy at Palace, and build a team which can play a style of football more effective than Hodgson’s right now.
