Crystal Palace slumped to the 12th defeat of the season against Chelsea on Monday night as Roy Hodgson’s ice gets thinner.
Roy Hodgson ultimately will feel a little hard done by to have seen his side on the losing end at Selhurst Park on Monday night. An improved performance ultimately wasn’t enough and the pressure remains firmly on the 76-year-old as Jamie Carragher slammed his appointment.
Now, it’s been reported Crystal Palace has made an approach to replace Hodgson with a 37-year-old manager, but ultimately it’s been unsuccessful for now.
Here’s the latest in Palace’s hunt for a new manager…

Crystal Palace made a move to appoint Kieran McKenna
According to a report from The Guardian, Palace have become frustrated in their attempts to lure Northern Irish coach Kieran McKenna away from Ipswich Town.
Steve Parish is a long-term admirer of McKenna and is understood to have spoken with his representatives over the Ipswich boss who has 98 career wins.
McKenna however has brought Ipswich from lowly League One to having a real shot at promotion this season in the Championship and therefore isn’t keen on leaving his current job while promotion is still a possibility.
That being said, the report adds that there is still hope that he could take over at the end of this season.
How likely is McKenna to get Ipswich promoted
After an incredible season opening, the past few weeks have seen Ipswich slow down a little bit as the recently relegated sides rise to the top.
That being said they are just four points off second and automatic promotion. Just one win in 10 league games for Ipswich though doesn’t bode their chances well, although the playoffs still look a very likely possibility.
The Tractor Boys are 11 points above West Brom in fifth but if this poor run extends, they could soon find the playoffs are also in jeopardy.
That being said, it does look likely Ipswich will be right in the conversation for playoff football at least for the remainder of this season. So, it’s probably the case that he won’t be replacing Hodgson until May at the earliest if he does want the job.
Hodgson could yet see this season out.
