Crystal Palace have now made a striker compared to Ollie Watkins a primary target.

Dougie Freedman – Director of Football at Selhurst Park – is close to strengthening Oliver Glasner‘s attacking options after agreeing personal terms with Marseille No.23 Ismaila Sarr.

Now, Crystal Palace are targeting a striker to join the winger in SE25…

Crystal Palace make Mohamed Bamba a primary target

A story from Marca in Spain now states that Mohamed Bamba is a leading target for Crystal Palace this summer.

The Ivorian made a real name for himself last season after scoring 17 goals and providing seven assists in 34 appearances for two different clubs.

Bamba netted nine goals in 18 outings for Wolfsberger – before impressively scoring eight goals in 16 Ligue 1 games after completing a €5m (£4.2m) January move to Lorient.

The 22-year-old actually scored on his debut for Lorient, before netting in the next three games as well.

Marca believe Getafe are also keen to sign Bamba as the Spanish side look to replace Mason Greenwood.

Interestingly, the Lorient No.9 has been likened to Aston Villa No.11 and England international Ollie Watkins by data site FBref – with Robert Lewandowski the second most similar forward to the Crystal Palace target.

Ivorian could replace Odsonne Edouard

Marca mention that Bamba could be a replacement for Jean-Philippe Mateta, amid interest from Roma.

However, we believe the man from Bouake could actually replace Odsonne Edouard.

A story from the South London Press claimed that Crystal Palace are willing to sell Edouard this summer, while Fabrizio Romano recently added that Premier League sides are interested in the Frenchman.

Therefore, it seems far more likely that Bamba would replace the Crystal Palace No.22 – rather than Mateta.
