Crystal Palace academy prospect Joe Whitworth has just been called up to the England U20 squad.
He will join up with the young national team over the November international break.

The Crystal Palace academy is full of exciting young talents and it was only recently that attacker Jesse Derry was called up to the England U17s.
Whitworth is a goalkeeper who fans at the club love and who fans are desperate to see make it at the highest level.
The 19-year-old is a Palace fan so it is great to see him involved in the senior squad when options are light.
Now, England have confirmed that he will be in the England men’s Elite League squad in November. The squad will be taking on Italy on the 16th of November and Germany on the 20th of November.

The 19 year-old Englishman is clearly someone the club believes has top potential as they handed him his Premier League debut last season following the Eagles having an injury crisis in between the sticks.
Former Palace manager Patrick Vieira called Whitworth “really strong” last season and if he keeps on impressing then he could definitely feature for the club in the future.
This England U20s call-up is great news for the club and for Whitworth. It also shows other upcoming prospects that the South London club can get you to high places.
With the U21s performing well and also in a European competition, owner Steve Parish is definitely doing everything possible to build the future.
With two other goalkeepers in the squad, Whitworth will no doubt have to impress massively in the build-up to the Italy or Germany match if he wants to get a start.
Even if he doesn’t get any minutes, it is a huge experience to be involved in the squad and also highlights that he is being looked at by those who manage the England youth sides.
