Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell suffered an injury in pre-season and with little depth at left-back, we believe Lewis Hall could be a good option this transfer window.
Reports from The Daily Mail have linked Crystal Palace to the player this summer already, but that was back in May and since then things have gone quiet.
The Eagles are currently in America and lost in a pre-season match last night. Mitchell had to be subbed off due to his injury.
Roy Hodgson spoke about the injury to the defender. He said: “Mitchell has a strain in his quad muscle. He felt a sharp pain when he tried to slide in to stop the goal being scored, so that could be a dangerous one for us.” With this possibly being a bad injury, a transfer like Hall, on loan, could be a great option.
Lewis Hall could be an ideal temporary replacement for Tyrick Mitchell
Our squad is already quite depleted. Michael Olise is injured for the foreseeable and Wilfried Zaha left to join Galatasaray.
In defence, fans have always debated whether we need a new right-back due to the age of Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne. Meanwhile, aside from Mitchell, there is no other natural left-back in the senior squad.
We can use out of favour Jairo Riedewald there or perhaps even Jeffrey Schlupp or Clyne. Despite this, they all play better in other positions and with Mitchell’s injury possibly being long-term, it feels like we need a proper left-back to replace him.
Lewis Hall has already risen from the Chelsea academy and broken into the first-team at the Blues despite only being 18 years-old.
The ‘quality‘ English prospect looks a bright talent and his main position is at left-back. He can also play in midfield and on the left-wing.
The 18 year-old, who featured nine times in the Premier League, impressed. The stats from FBREF emphasise that he is already a solid defender who possesses an attacking threat. Hall managed 3.17 tackles per 90, 1.51 interceptions per 90, 2.61 progressive carries per 90 and 1.24 successful take-ons per 90.
If the Eagles could manage to use their great relationship with Chelsea and pick up another talented player on loan from the club then it would massively help them, especially with Mitchell’s injury.
