Daichi Kamada became the first Crystal Palace player to bow out of the World Cup after Brazil fought from a goal down to record a 2-1 win over Japan in the Round of 32.

The Crystal Palace No.18 was enjoying a fine tournament with two goals in his four World Cup outings so far – no Japanese player netted more.

However, the former Eintracht Frankfurt star will now go on holiday after a late winner from Gabriel Martinelli knocked Japan out.

By the sounds of how Kamada reacted on Instagram, it will be a much-needed vacation for the Japan international.

Crystal Palace’s fixtures are out for the 2026/27 season! Which game are you most excited for? 🤔

Daichi Kamada hints he is suffering from fatigue after lengthy 2025/26 season

The 29-year-old just experienced his busiest campaign as a professional footballer.

Kamada made 46 appearances for Crystal Palace last term as the Eagles went all the way in the UEFA Conference League, and was afforded hardly any rest before adding four more games to that tally with Japan at the World Cup.

Now, the former Lazio midfielder has written to Japanese football fans to apologise for the defeat against Brazil, interestingly adding that he really felt a “lack of strength” at the competition.

Kamada wrote: “I am so sorry that I couldn’t meet the expectations of many fans due to the result. I’m really feeling the lack of strength at this tournament too. The support we received from Japanese fans this time has been incredible. Thank you for your continued passionate support for Japanese football. Devoted.”

Sage should take heed of this message and make sure he doesn’t overwork the Crystal Palace star during pre-season.

Kamada has technically become a free agent as of today (June 30th) – the official date of his contract expiring.

However, a story from The Athletic claims that the UEFA Conference League winner is close to signing a new deal, so he is expected to be part of Sage’s squad for the 2026/27 campaign.

Where do you think we can finish in the UEFA Europa League next season after victory in Leipzig? 🤔

If Nottingham Forest can reach the last four while in a relegation battle, surely we can at least make the final? 👀

Hopefully, Kamada can recover well after a gruelling 2025/26 campaign, and continue to be a key man for Crystal Palace without Oliver Glasner at the helm.
