Eberechi Eze is one of four Crystal Palace players in Gareth Southgate’s England squad, but he didn’t get off to the best start.
Ahead of Euro 2024, the England squad have kicked off their pre-tournament training camp where Gareth Southgate will whittle his squad down from preliminary to final.
Crystal Palace fans will have an interest in what happens here as four Eagles players are in the squad right now.
Dean Henderson, Marc Guehi, Adam Wharton and Eberechi Eze are all in with a shot of representing their country at the Euros.
All four will be desperate to see their names on the list to head to Germany but one of the four has got his training camp off to a “bad start”.
Eberechi Eze gets England camp off to bad start
Eze’s bad start came as he entered the doors at Rockliffe Hall to begin international duty.
It was seen in footage on the official England YouTube channel which documented the England squad arriving at the training camp, with Eze being the centre of one section of the video.
Eze was walking into the reception area with the camera on him as he said: “You lot checked in?”
Eze then turned to the camera and laughed as he said: “Bad start, bad start.”
This was clearly a joke by the mercurial Palace talent, as he was later pictured in training looking on form, as he has been for months for the Eagles.

As the England squad prepare for the tournament, one in which they are among the favourites to go all the way.
The positions which Eze could occupy for England are areas in which there are multiple top-quality options, but Eze should rank highly in the options.
On the left or the number 10 position, Eze will have to contend with the likes of Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham, James Maddison, Anthony Gordon and others, but when compared, he’s better than two of those four with Merson admitting he’d choose Eze over Maddison.
Southgate must bring Eze to Germany, he has the X-factor to win games with moments of magic and without Marcus Rashford that’s a trait lacking in the squad.
