Oliver Glasner is now gearing up for his first game in charge of Crystal Palace, but in the lead up he’s completed his first interview for the club.
Monday saw the arrival of a new era at Selhurst Park after the position of Roy Hodgson became untenable thanks to repeatedly poor displays, although he officially stepped down.
Ahead of this Saturday’s home outing against relegation candidates Burnley, Oliver Glasner has been speaking to club media.
In this interview, he explained that by taking on the challenge of keeping Crystal Palace away from relegation, he’s doing something he’s not ever done before.

Speaking with club media on Thursday, Glasner explained that by taking the role at Copers Cope, he’s doing something he’s never done before.
“It’s the first time in my career I’ve started as a manager during a season. It’s a different situation, but it is how it is, and for me, it’s important to do the best out of it.
“Talks started already in the autumn, but the plan would have been to start in the summer.
“It came faster than we all thought, but it doesn’t change many things. We have three training sessions and then the first game against Burnley, and we will prepare the team as well as it’s possible, and then we go for three points here at Selhurst Park.”
Glasner also discussed his footballing philosophy which will undoubtedly have gotten Palace fans excited.

With his words here, we can determine that Palace had been viewing Glasner as a top option for months stretching back to the Autumn as the Austrian said.
This was with the view of taking over in the summer, but interestingly Glasner wasn’t a name mentioned until a couple of weeks ago which shows how well Palace had it hidden.
Taking over mid-season for the first time in his career is a risk, with a bad start this Saturday potentially proving a massive blow and could kill the infamous new manager momentum.
Now in place, Glasner just needs a handful of wins to create a big enough gap to relegation before he can begin the long-term planning of Palace.
