Chris Sutton has now commented on Roy Hodgson complaining about the officials after Crystal Palace suffered a 2-1 defeat against Liverpool on Saturday.

Well, the man from Nottingham agrees with the 76-year-old’s comments on how football is being ruined by poor officiating.
Hodgson said: “I am absolutely sick about the handball interpretations, I’m sick about these yellow cards for time wasting, I’m sick about player behaviour. We’re trying to do our jobs, the coaches are trying to give a bit of advice to the players, and every time they get even close to me (in the technical area) the (fourth official) is screaming to sit down again.
“Games like today make me realise that when the day comes to leave it behind, I won’t be missing anything.”
The experienced Croydon-born tactician’s bleak view on the state of modern football ended up sparking a widespread discussion, and Sutton has now shared some comments.
He said: “Having played under Roy a little bit and knowing him, he does get incredibly frustrated when things don’t go his way. I really felt for him at the weekend, I thought that was so harsh on Palace.
“I think he is speaking for a lot of people when he says that; what’s gone on, the re-refereeing thing, referees now being put under so much stress and pressure. It’s incredibly difficult for referees and I’ve got massive sympathy with them. Most people understand where Roy is coming from.”

When a man who has overseen 902 games in management and has coached since 1976 admits he will not miss the game he has given so much to, it should concern everybody.
Football is undoubtedly going the wrong way, and until more established figures like Hodgson speak out and make a fuss, it will only continue to go in that direction.
