Crystal Palace legend Jim Cannon has been slammed by Ian Wright who was discussing how he was treated upon entering the Palace team.
Jim Cannon is a legend of the club, as defined by the club themselves in a tribute to the defender on his 70th birthday earlier this year.
Cannon made 660 appearances for The Eagles, scoring 36 goals which establishes himself among the legends of Crystal Palace.
But it has now emerged that he possibly wasn’t the best person or teammate during his time at Crystal Palace after Ian Wright’s recent comments on Cannon.
Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast alongside Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane, Wright revealed the treatment he received from Cannon when he first joined the Palace first-team in 1985.
Wright explained that Cannon had bullied him to the point he avoided being in communal areas with him.

In the episode, Gary Neville asked Ian Wright has he ever had to share the dressing room with someone he didn’t like, to which Wright had a response at the ready.
“Yeah, Jim Cannon when I got into the Palace squad, he was just a bitter and cantankerous old player man.
“Jim Cannon, Scottish player, centre-half and he made my first couple of years in professional football a _______ nightmare man.
“He was just like a bully in there, you know when you go for the communal food and I’m literally three months off the building site and I don’t know what’s going on I’m sitting and eating with everybody,” Wright explained.
“I hardly even knew what to order properly, and I remember when I was ordering he would take the _______ ____ out of me, and everything that I’d do. ‘You can’t afford that, do you have that at home, how’d you say that’.
“That’s the kind of thing that made me stop going down [to the canteen].” He continued, “Off of the back of that, I was always – in a communal setting – always very nervous about it, and it’s never left me that.”

Cannon spent 17 years at Palace which saw him endear himself to the Selhurst Park crowd.
He is still a player who is heavily involved in the club and regularly participates in events.
However, this from Wright paints him in a terrible light and one which could change the public perception of him for many.
