Crystal Palace left a footnote at Euro 2024 on Sunday as both Marc Guehi and Ebere Eze played crucial roles in England’s comeback against Slovakia.

As the 21-year-old walked around shaking hands with teammates and opponents after Umut Meler blew his whistle for full-time, Bellingham’s expression changed drastically when he saw Guehi.
The £85m man went from smiling to almost a grimace of delight at seeing the £18m Crystal Palace defender.
Bellingham grabbed Guehi’s head with both hands – as if to treasure the body part that assisted his stunning overhead kick – before appearing to even place a kiss on his fellow England international.

Guehi simply had to get that flick-on correct with just seconds on the clock, or else England were likely to suffer their most humiliating defeat as a nation since the 2-1 loss to Iceland under Roy Hodgson at Euro 2016.
As you can see below, the 23-year-old got the perfect amount of weight on the flick, cushioning it perfectly for Bellingham to fire beyond Martin Dubravka.

Guehi has arguably been England’s best player at Euro 2024 so far this summer, although if we fail to beat Switzerland on Saturday, there will be no more football in Germany for the man from Abidjan.
Why? Well, a dodgy pass from Kieran Trippier led Guehi to be yellow carded inside just three minutes against Slovakia, which means he is suspended for the quarter-final clash against Switzerland.

Hopefully, whoever replaces him can do the business and get England through, as it would be a real shame for Guehi’s tournament to end prematurely.
