Crystal Palace have a decision to make regarding Adam Wharton.
The £22m man was left on the bench by Oliver Glasner in Monday’s 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest, as a groin issue suffered during UEFA EURO 2024 continues to bother him.
Crystal Palace are considering surgery for Wharton to fix the problem, but have been keen to ensure the England international does not go under the knife if possible so far this season.
Wharton has even been taking painkillers to get through games for the Eagles this term, which is by no means a long-term solution, and will only cause further damage to his groin.
Now – thanks to the Daily Mail – it has been revealed how long Crystal Palace will be without Adam Wharton if he does undergo an operation.
Crystal Palace would only lose Adam Wharton for three weeks
Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail now claims that Glasner would only be without the 20-year-old for a matter of three weeks, should he be sent in for surgery.
It is said that Crystal Palace medical staff estimate Wharton would be able to make a return to training at Copers Cope in under a month if an operation does happen, with those at Selhurst Park giving serious consideration to surgery as the problem refuses to disappear.

We could have understood why Crystal Palace would be apprehensive to operate on Wharton if it meant the Blackburn-born midfielder misses months of action.
However, three weeks is nothing in comparison, and in truth, it is quite frustrating that the decision has not already been made.
We have only recently seen a two-week international break end, so had Crystal Palace decided to send Wharton in for surgery before that round of England fixtures, he may already be close to a full recovery.
Hopefully, a decision is made soon, as the Crystal Palace No.20 has not looked himself whatsoever when he is able to get out on the pitch.
