Crystal Palace will have known there wouldn’t be an overnight transformation for Oliver Glasner after his arrival last month.
Despite a good start and the fact he’s likely to oversee a decent season finale, the squad at his disposal clearly needs a lot of work.
This in terms of both recruitment and also in improving the fitness of the current batch of players at his disposal which is an area which was lacking under Roy Hodgson.

Speaking on The Overlap’s fan debate, Palace’s representative was a supporter and content creator HLTCO who has explained where he thinks Glasner’s biggest problem lies.
“To get him [Glasner] to come to a relegation battle at this exact point is a real coup for us. Obviously you can’t guarantee that it’s going to work, we’ve moved to a back three… even though against Spurs last week, people said it was Roy Hodgson like, but I certainly saw positives in the way we were approaching things.
“I just think fitness is a huge part of it because he wants to play a very high pressing style he wants people to get in the oppositions faces and get forward as much as possible and that’s not going to be an overnight thing.
“I’m very optimistic that if we get a full pre-season under him then we may very well be in a very good position at the start of the next campaign.”

This summer will be huge in determining whether or not Glasner will be successful at Selhurst Park or not.
With several outgoings expected to occur, Glasner will be hoping to be afforded the chance to rebuild the squad in his own image.
This could see a crop of hard working players arrive to overhaul the style of play at the club.
This highlights the importance of keeping Dougie Freedman ahead of what is the most important window in years for Palace.
