The latest reports suggest that Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze could be involved in the England squad for Euro 2024 after impressing Gareth Southgate.
That’s according to The Daily Mail.
So, what’s the latest around Eze’s England future? Let’s take a look.
What’s the story?
The attacking midfielder made his senior England debut at the end of last season. He impressed in the Premier League, scoring 10 Premier League goals. Six of these came in the last eight games of the season.
The report goes on to say that Eze made a major impression during the last international break in the England camp. Due to this, Southgate is now keen to have a closer look at Eze in the months building up to the tournament.
If Eze can keep up his form at the Eagles, the report claims that the Three Lions manager will give the Englishman another chance to impress in the September internationals.
Eze very close to England Euro 2024 call-up
Crystal Palace fans were eager for the attacking midfielder to be called up. When it happened, we were not shocked and it will be no shock for fans to hear he impressed Southgate.
The 25 year-old is great on the ball and has an eye for goal. His dribbling with the ball over long-distances is something not a lot of players can do.
With Wilfried Zaha injured towards the end of last season, Palace needed someone to step up. Eze did exactly that and can no doubt have a big future.
If he can continue his good form then it means Palace will be in a great position. Everyone at Palace will be hoping he makes the England squad for Euro 2024. He has never ever featured in the finals of an international tournament before.
The “incredible” player has a very bright future. The one worry for Crystal Palace is that with all this recognition, bigger clubs will come calling.
Sadly, Eze’s current contract is only until 2025. It would be great if we could tie him down to another contract sooner rather than later. Even if he doesn’t stay for many years, an extended contract would mean we could sell him for a much higher price.
