Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer were full of praise for Michael Olise’s stunning goal for Crystal Palace in their 2-1 loss to Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.
A late Jacob Brown goal for Rob Edwards’ Luton Town meant it was Crystal Palace’s sixth defeat of the Premier League season as they stayed in 13th place in the league.
Roy Hodgson was frustrated about the manner in which the Eagles suffered their defeat at Kenilworth Road but the goal scored by Michael Olise was a stunner.
The Frenchman rifled the ball into the top corner and Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski, who had a superb game against Hodgson’s side was left with no chance.
Shearer and Lineker on goal
Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker have scored their fair share of spectacular goals in their career but the pair were waxing lyrical about the Frenchman’s goal.
“It’ll certainly be one of them (goals of the season), Shearer said on Match Of The Day. “(It was) A great piece of skill, the way he flicks it around the corner. He has the balance and poise to turn the defender inside and out.
“Watch the bend he gets on it and the balance he has on the ball before he shoots. He has a little look-up before shooting, (Thomas) Kaminski had a superb game in goal for Luton but he had no chance with that effort.”
Gary Lineker seemingly agreed with the Shearer’s verdict on the goal and believes the Frenchman may have scored the goal of the season: “It will certainly take some beating.”
Olise’s impact
The Frenchman made only his second appearance in the Premier League this season at Kenilworth Road but Olise’s goal certainly got the rest of the league to sit up and take notice.
Olise has been linked with a move away from Selhurst Park this season and goals like that will certainly keep some of the division’s top sides watching.
With the injury suffered by Eberechi Eze set to keep the Englishman out of the team for a period of time, Olise has to step up for the Eagles now.
