Manchester United could now replace Erik ten Hag with Graham Potter – who Crystal Palace spoke to in May before rehiring Roy Hodgson.

Well – according to Foot Mercato – Crystal Palace spoke to Potter back in May as Steve Parish considered taking a new direction.
The French news outlet boldly claimed that the Eagles were very keen to hire the 48-year-old.
Eventually, nothing materialised with Potter and Hodgson signed a new one-year contract.
Now – however – we could miss out on the man from Solihull for good as Manchester United consider bringing him to Old Trafford.
The story from Sky Sports states that Sir Jim Ratcliffe admires Potter – and he will be strongly considered for the role if results do not improve under Ten Hag.
Foot Mercato’s story from May actually reinforces this fresh development.
The French news outlet stated that OGC Nice also wanted to hire Potter – the Ligue 1 side are also owned by Ratcliffe, who is now set to take partial control of Manchester United along with the Glazers.

In our view, Parish should have gone all out for Potter – who once praised Wilfried Zaha – back in the summer.
Of course, the Englishman carries links to arch rivals Brighton, although he is a top modern coach who deploys a highly entertaining style of football, and also uses young players.
At the moment, Hodgson is doing neither of those things – instead actually criticising some of our best prospects – and the natives are becoming restless at Selhurst Park.
If Manchester United do end up appointing Potter, it would suggest Parish should have done the same while he still had the chance.
